WOW!!! We have done some serious travelling today... will have to add the mileage tomorrow... but we left Bar Harbor this morning... and headed for Wal-Mart, where we got a cooler bag, a flask and various bits and pieces to aid us in our travels... the scenery that we have been through today has been really varied... We travelled through Maine for most of the way, before venturing through a small part of New Hampshire and then moving on to Vermont... we are staying at 'The Wildflower Inn', we had actually booked in here for two nights and therefore had to make our way today... in our discussion with Karen and Nigel it was highly recommended, so we looked at it before leaving the UK and booked ourselves in... (have added their website above...) As most of the day was spent simply driving, we didn't take huge amounts of photos, although we have a few quirky ones taken in the car and out the windscreen, especially as we passed through loads of roadworks, as the winter snow has obviously affected the roads in a major way!!! We are currently sitting in the lounge area in order to access wi-fi, drinking wine and watching the sun go down... this is the life... on travelling to the Inn we passed by the White Mountains, which are still snow capped... and look amazing...
I now know what Jay meant when she kept saying that she wanted to talk to real Americans. Every where we stop she strikes up conversations... we have just had a lengthy chat with a couple who live up the road from the Inn, who informed us that they had awoken to a scattering of snow this morning!!! They have given us list of places to visit... so we will be out and about exploring Vermont tomorrow!!!
Jay is currently reading Oprah, and found this saying:
"If there is something on your wish list for life, make plans today to do it..."
Suzi - your next sticker must go on a place called St Johnsbury - Daddy will need to help you find it!!!
(Unfortunately because of our location - we cannot upload the photos intended for today's entry... we will try tomorrow.)

by you doing this trip, looks like you have already understood, that there are no limitations in life, in this form or any other...so here is a little saying, just to comfirme it from Arthur Shopenhauer:
"Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world."
Can't wait to read about your next day-s..

As Oprah would say 'The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams'. What a fantastic start you've had to living yours. I am wondering what 'seasonal goodies' look like. It seems one gets them, along with a hearty breakfast, at the wildflower!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I keep checking my punctuation. Too much time spent with Ms Guilhermino discussing the use of the blessed full stop and comma (Ohh my, should they be capitalised.
It's great reading your adventures. I wonder, can U keep up a daily log for 70 days?...hmmmm, probably.

Hallo lovelies!!!! Just found St Johnsbury on the map. Did you know there is a Dog Chapel there? I've had a look on the computer to find information about Vermont, etc and it sound like a charming area. Full of character and history. How is the big truck? Susie keeps looking for photo's with you guys in it. Please post some with yourselves in. Where are you off to in the next few days? Hope you have a great time and get some rest as well. Love you lots!!!
ReplyDeleteJust read something else........ "Early spring is Vermont's own Maple Sugaring season, when the maple sap begins to flow and sugarmakers produce the golden liquid for which Vermont is famous. The St. Johnsbury area is home to many farmers who produce the highest quality maple syrup, and they welcome visitors to see how maple syrup is made. St. Johnsbury has often been called "the Maple Center of the World."
ReplyDeleteWELL YOU LEARN SOMETHING EVERY DAY.
And I had such a hankering for cheese.....
ReplyDeleteCool info though, one tends to think Maple syrup is a Canadian speciality.
Now I've images of the girls trying to tap a tree =0)
I am so thrilled you stayed at The Wildflower Inn and I hope you loved it.
