Where to start? What didn't we see in Chicago today?
On waking up this morning, the sun had come out....and just having gone through the photos of today's trip-we see there are over 300 so how do we choose just 5 for the blog? Clearly this city is an architect's dream. We started by viewing the skyline from the ground upwards and then later, from the John Hancock Observatory-looking down. The buildings are just amazing-there are so many styles and designs that Chicago is truly unlike any other city we've seen, and at the end of the day as the sun is setting, it looks like a silver sheath against a darkening sky.
This afternoon, we ventured to Millennium Park where they have the famous 'Silver Kidney Bean Sculpture' and the Crown Fountains of which we have included a photo of each. Aside from the innovative architecture, there was a buzz of excitement amongst Chicagoans as their ice-hockey team was in the Stanley Cup Final tonight (having won 49yrs ago) and so everything was decked out in the team colours. As we sit in our room blogging at nearly midnight, the fireworks are going off outside and we can hear the celebrations from the pubs in the street below as the Black Hawks bought the trophy home, beating Philly 4-3.
We ended our day by going to the Navy pier where we had a fantastic meal at 'Bubba Gumps' of Forrest Gump fame.
Now these photos are fantastic

Hi there my intrepid Travellers - well you are certainly getting the miles under your belts - and we are now moving across, and not in circles! This trip is surely one of those -"do it, do it, do it - don't talk about it!" journeys - the right decision at the right time! and I am so happy that all is going well - and you are having great times - and you know Jc even at 40 you can still laze about on the beach for the day - 40 is good! Oh! and by the way Jc - tell those old grizzlys to "SOD OFF" - but politely of course! The jazz clubs looked great - are they eating places cum clubs - or drinking places {sounds better!} cum clubs! Did you meet up with any of the Mafia - and I see they have not got prohibition at the moment Jc! What incredible buildings - they are beautiful - that first building just makes you want to sit and look at it - the photo where the children are playing in the water - is that a moving picture on the side of the building, is it constantly changing? Well yous twos - at least I have'nt lost all my tap tapping tonight, so far! Take care of yourselves - keep safe - loving you as always - Moi
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, great Blog - now my daily morning read before I set off for work! xx
ReplyDeleteWow girls!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo angles.
Wish I were there, but I'd probably end up in the middle of the road trying to get the shot I want.
Have a bit of a "thing" for architecture.
Envious is today's word.
Have a great time.
