Starbucks...

I know that it's a few weeks since we have put anything on our blog... we certainly need to get better at 'blogging'!!!
...anyway - things are progressing at a rapid rate... and five weeks tonight we will be all packed and ready to go!!! WOW!!!
Since our last blog we have caught up with Janice and Marina and had a lesson in SKYPE... so hopefully we now know how to do that!!! As well as discussions about places to go and people to see...
Ann has been over to America - visiting home, and has informed us that she has brought a few maps back... for family and friends who are going to be following us, not only on the blog... but our actual route on an actual map!!!
...and this morning we met with Karen and Nigel, over a Starbucks coffee, friends who have been to America a million times!!! We were seriously inspired and I have subsequently spent the rest of the day PLANNING!!!
I have discovered how to work the TripTik map planner on AAA, which as we are members of the AA over here we are able to use the services of the AAA... and that has been fantastic...
so we have worked out a route... more or less... although as I suggested to Jay that that was my plan for this evening, 'sorting out a route' - Jay's response was, "I'm not necessarily agreeing to it, I just want to see what you come up with!"
So now we have lots of little sections of maps... which i will get bound together... thanks Karen for the wonderful idea having seen your planner this morning!!!

practising with photos...

...last saturday Ann came over for supper... and we were armed with our USA map and guidebook and looked at our proposed route... and suggestions of places along the way to explore...

a few photos were taken... of course (as evidence of planning)... although as you are all aware "we're not really planning!!!"... and now to try and figure out how to get the photos from the computer onto the blog!!!

50 days to go...

We've been over at Fred and Duncs today... trying to finalise some of the issues with the 'blog' and also to have a lesson in how to use SKYPE!!! All these new technologies... okay - so maybe not so new!!! but new to us!!! ...anyway - i think we may now be a few steps closer on that front!!!
...and also the new light weight luggage has been purchased... and Jay has finally posted on Facebook that we are doing our road trip...
...and YES!!! only 50 days to go...

and today is sunday...
...we have been practising with our laptop... getting connected... am now sitting in mom's lounge... hoping to get mom set up to practise putting comments on, as we are adding people to our followers list... Jay is on a train up to Birmingham, doing training for the next few days... so i am just trying some things out on the blog... trying to get them up and running... also connected for internet banking yesterday in order to ensure that everything can still be paid when we are way... anyone who knows us will know that i am 'computer stupid'... so i am hoping for the best!!! I think Jay is slightly better at all things computer-ish!!!
PLANNING - PLANNING -PLANNING!!!
We are not planning this road trip... but lots of planning is going on...
Ann came over last night for supper, and as she is American, the conversation revolved around all things american whilst looking at the maps and planning where we should visit and places to explore.

We are definately going...
We started a blog... as in - just practising - in October last year when we really started to think about the idea of taking time off this year... we only had a few entries on it... and then 'blogger' decided to do something different with the set up and we seem to have lost the few posts that we made as I am 'computer stupid'... but not to worry, we have now set up another blog and we are trying again!!!
Today we booked our tickets for our trip to the States...
we are leaving on the 3rd of May... flying to Boston and returning on the 27th of July!!!
So we have decided to set up a blog for friends and family to join us in our journey as we travel across the States... we are not too sure how it all works yet, but we will spend the next few months before we go practising, and hopefully 'blogger' doesn't change the set up again...
So - last weekend we purchased the laptop... which we now have to try and figure out... we have the loan!!! And now we have the tickets... so there is no going back!!!
...and now to see what happens when i try to publish the post... and glamorise the blog!!!
